Impression – Sharing a solar eclipse

Not to bore anyone with more very partial solar eclipses, but… this is how you share the experience in a random park in Friedrichshain:

Someone gives you old old exposed film, others tear up an emergency blanket for fellow watchers, or you are welcome to admire the x-rays of a rather nasty accident.

Oh, or you can enjoy images & video afterwards while listening to some great dark & dreamy music (nice surprise music event in the giveaway-shop by multi-instrumentalists..).

Encounter: a new dentist in the neighborhood

Always nice to make a – new – dentist’s day…

When I explained to him that, though caries has a hard time getting a grip on my teeth, they are 50 shades of yellow, brown & black because of breathing fire, you just saw “this can only happen to you in Friedrichshain” crossing his mind.

He even made pictures of the inside of my mouth and plans to do more research on what the long-term effects of petroleum on teeth & gums are, cause I told him more fire-spitters know the problem….

And now I realize I introduced myself by telling him I’m one of those people who have a dentist phobia. And both this phobia as well as the many scars inside my mouth  – he was pretty amazed by those too – are caused by falling (mostly out of trees) a lot.

So… then I tell him I breathe fire as if it is something completely normal.
And no, there are no less dangerous substances than petroleum to breathe fire with, well maybe lamp oil.

I guess one of the reasons he told me I was one of a kind (Ha! wait till he gets more – pierced up & fully tattooed, but afraid of the dentist – Friedrichshainers in his chair) are the priorities I have when it comes to being scared shitless…

Blurp – Hands down the drain

Rhetorical question: how come, if you offer to help some – alternative – project to repair their heating or water system you always end up renewing the sewage infrastructure (too)?

(*sighs & rubs her hands clean…*)

in this case, it was a huge amount of paint residue causing the problem (silk screen workshop with a sink without a siphon … oh, and the pipes were going up & down, without being fixed except with about two cans construction foam mixed with glass wool inside the walls… *shakes head & tries not to ask for a ban on construction foam*)

Rant – Gentrification

ShitShitShitShitShit… one of the most “lively” and larger premises of Berlin, where many smaller and alternative initiatives found a home has been sold to an “investor group”. And everyone knows where that will end…

Even though it became more and more commercial, & tourist-oriented the last few years, unfortunately attracted also the not so nice side-effects of the party-scene, such as those really annoying dealers or the kiddies who can’t handle alcohol or other substances.

Still, there’s a lot of great stuff going on there, both music- as well as artwise, and it’s also the home of my acrobatics society, so this is REALLY bad news!
Parties, music and art do NOT go well with office buildings or (probably expensive) new housing, as many clubs in Berlin can unfortunately confirm…
